Welcome to my May Newsletter. I can’t quite believe we are this far into the year but as I write this, the cherry tree is beginning to drop its blossom, the daffodils and tulips seem to be making way for other flowers and the evenings are definitely staying lighter for longer so I guess nature is getting ready for the warmer and sunnier days ahead. This month, I thought I’d share another ‘Where in the World?’ with you although perhaps I should re-title that, ‘Where in Suffolk?’ With two bank holidays this month, we took the opportunity to explore our local area on the last one and took a walk down the Orwell Estuary from Pin Mill.

Where in the world

Pin Mill is a hamlet on the south bank of the tidal River Orwell, on the outskirts of the village of Chelmondiston, on the Shotley peninsula in southern Suffolk. It is the setting of the opening chapters of both We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea and Secret Water, the seventh and eighth novels of the author Arthur Ransome, in his classic Swallows and Amazons series. Pin Mill was once the home of Arthur Ransome and perhaps not much has changed here since the 1940’s as it seems to be a hidden gem alongside the river, a chance to walk, unwind, admire the views, spot some local wildlife and then return to the wonderful historic pub, The Butt and Oyster, for a little refreshment – the best sort of walk I think!

Farleigh Hospice
£40 for 40 Challenge 2022

This year I have decided to take part in the £40 for 40 challenge in aid of Farleigh Hospice. Farleigh offer services and care within the community and at the Hospice for patients and their families in the Chelmsford area.

All of their funding comes from charitable donations and I can honestly say, the service is second to none. My dear Dad was looked after by the team at Farleigh and it is because of this that I decided to take part in the challenge this year.

To raise funds I will be making and selling flower hangers in the colours of the Hospice – Purples. These will be on sale at my craft events, at my retail stockists and by direct order, please do contact me if you would like one.

100% of the funds raised from the sale of these hangers will be going to Farleigh Hospice when the challenge ends in September. I will keep you posted on how much I manage to raise.

Farleigh Hospice £40 for 40 Challenge 2022

They cost £20 each and are on sale now – I know this is a very challenging time for so many but please do consider buying one and supporting the work of the wonderful team at Farleigh in the process. Please do contact me to order xx

Make of the Month

I am so so loving sharing my love of glass at my workshops. Loads of ideas for inspiration and designs are available but the creativeness of my customers is truly inspiring to me too.

I really do love all the designs that are made and the task of picking a ‘make of the month’ gets harder every time.

This month, I have chosen a piece full of colour, it was fired for a second time to create the curve and can now stand on a window ledge or be used as a candle curve – absolutely love it.

Wishing you all a warm and sunny May, thank you so much for taking an interest and supporting my Small Business.

Please do contact me if you want to ask anything at all and I’ll see you next month xx
