Welcome to July! I can’t quite believe we are now half way through the year!…hoping sunny days, time with family and perhaps a little holiday are all things to look forward to over the next few weeks.
Believe it or not, for me, July is the time of year I need to start thinking and planning for the Christmas season. I am already beginning to fill any little spaces in the kiln with little Christmas designs and ideas so that I can have a variety of pieces ready for the winter craft events and orders. I can’t wait to share this year’s designs with you. On a hot Summer’s day it does look a little mad having snow and glitter on the work table but all will be revealed in the Autumn xx
This month I received a wonderful surprise – Tabitha’s Glass Emporium sent me some of their stunning glass murrine pieces as part of their ‘Pay it Forward’ competition.
They are encouraging glass artists to use their fabulous glass in a way that supports local charities or events. I was over the moon to have been chosen to win some and will be using the pieces for my Farleigh Hospice hangers which I am selling to raise funds for support of end of life care for residents in and near Chelmsford in Essex. Farleigh looked after my Dad so my fund raising is for him. I have until the end of September to turn £40 into as much money as I can and am delighted to let you know I have raised just over £300 so far – I’m hoping I can reach a target of £500. Please do contact me if you would like to purchase a hanger for £20 or just wish to donate an amount. Every penny counts and means the wonderful support and work of the Hospice team can continue xx
I have also had the opportunity to visit a few local gardens this month. All have been beautiful and totally inspiring as my own garden is definitely a ‘work in progress’. There’s something just quite magical about being in a beautiful garden. This one is one of my neighbours – all designed, grown and completed in three years so maybe there is hope for my own!
and these gardens are all in the neighboring village of Boxford which held an Open Gardens event at the beginning of June – all totally beautiful.
