A huge welcome to August xx Is it me or does the year seem to be flying past too quickly? It’s certainly been absolutely glorious weather so far although I must admit my garden is now looking a little desperate for a soaking!
We’re lucky enough to be heading to North Norfolk for a few days holiday over the next few weeks so I’m hoping the garden doesn’t completely dry up whilst we’re away.
Exciting News – Wells in North Norfolk is where a new gallery called ‘Metamorphosis’ is opening very shortly and here you will be able to find my work. The gallery will be stocked with work from a range of artists offering paintings, sculpture, pottery and glass to name a few, many of whom will also offer commissions. The Gallery will be the perfect place for lovers of unique and beautiful artisan made items so please do pay it a visit if you’re in the area.
Where in the World….?
I thought I’d take the opportunity this month to share a couple of local places we have recently discovered and would thoroughly recommend if you are heading to Suffolk for your holidays…..
Rent a Beach Hut.
We recently spent a totally wonderful family day on the beach at Mersea. We hired a beach hut via www.coolcoastalhuts.co.uk who have beach huts for hire here and at Frinton throughout the year. The hut was absolutely top class – deckchairs, buckets and spades for the children, inside seating, a well equipped kitchen, tea and coffee supplied, toys and blankets if needed, dog friendly and spotlessly clean. We took a picnic but the kitchen was so well equipped we could have cooked sausages on the little gas hob if we had wanted. (a great idea for hire in those cooler months me thinks)
Parking is near and couldn’t have been easier and even the beach toilets were just a short walk away and the cleanest we have ever come across. A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable day was had by all. We will definitely be booking to go again xx
Otley Hall and Martha’s Barn Cafe
Discovered by us quite by chance, we stumbled upon this gem of a cafe in the beautiful grounds and gardens of Otley Hall.
Otley Hall is a moated Tudor manor house with 10 acres of gardens that can be hired as a beautiful wedding venue.
Their cafe, Martha’s Barn is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 until 4 and offers locally sourced dishes, cakes and treats. There are outside tables and inside, the oak framed barn is just beautiful. Dogs are welcome too. We ate a delicious lunch and came home with 2 slices of the most amazing cake that we just couldn’t resist.
Definitely a place to visit again soon.
Garden Stakes
My garden stake designs are proving popular at the moment – I am able to display them outside at the shows and events over the summer and this certainly helps customers see how they can look in their own gardens.
I have three steel and glass designs at the moment, the steel frames are also hand made by a wonderful blacksmith based in Southampton. I love that each piece is completely unique although it does mean I have to fit the glass specifically to each frame and not forget which piece fits which – not always easy when you have a studio tidy up mid way through making!
Make of the Month
This month I want to show you one of my new designs made especially for Summer weddings. Who doesn’t love a heart? These framed pieces have been made in shades of pink, grey and neutrals but can include any colours you wish and names and dates can be added to the glass too. Tiny little hearts have been fused between the layers of glass. Please do contact me if you wish to order or want to find out more.
